Former CMS official Thomas Valuck has joined the National Quality Forum as senior vice president of strategic partnerships. Valuck, a physician, served previously as medical officer and senior adviser at the CMS Center for Medicare Management. In that capacity, he was announced in March as a member of the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research to coordinate research and guide investments in comparative effectiveness under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. The NQF said in a news release that Valuck, 43, will oversee efforts to build consensus among public and private leadership involved in the quality forums national priorities, developing an agenda for measure development and recommending measures for use in payment and public reporting.
