A senior vice president at Catholic Health Initiatives was installed as chairwoman of the Catholic Health Associations board of trustees, and the CEO of Ascension Health will succeed her in 2010.
Ascension President and CEO Anthony Tersignis selection as vice chairman and chairman-elect of the trustee board was announced at the CHA membership assembly in New Orleans this morning. Colleen Scanlon, senior vice president of advocacy for CHI, took over chairmanship of the board during the assembly, a succession that was announced at last years annual meeting.
Scanlon replaces Lloyd Dean, president and CEO of Catholic Healthcare West, who became speaker of CHAs next leadership assembly. Under CHA trustee protocol, member executives are vice chairman and chairman-elect for a year, followed by a year as chairman and then a year as speaker of the assembly. The CHA did not provide ages for Dean, Scanlon or Tersigni.
Nearly 800 member executives attended the assembly in New Orleans, which was down from previous years.
