Community Health Systems, Franklin, Tenn., said it has bought out not-for-profit 473-bed Akron (Ohio) General Medical Centers minority stake in a joint venture that operates 268-bed Affinity Medical Center, Massillon, Ohio. Terms were not disclosed.
Community acquired its interest in the joint venture when it acquired Triad Hospitals in July 2007. In a 2007 securities filing, Triad reported holding an 80% stake in the joint venture. Community owns, leases or operates 122 hospitals in 29 states.
