A triple dose of economic reality contributed to a $14.6 million loss for the N.C. Baptist Hospitals system in its fiscal 2008, officials said yesterday. By comparison, the system had $36 million in excess revenue in fiscal 2007. As a nonprofit organization, Baptist defines its bottom line as excess revenue and not profit.
