In one instance, Luntz advises Republicans to play up longer wait times for care. Nothing else turns people against the government takeover of healthcare than the realistic expectation that it will result in delayed and potentially even denied treatment, procedures and/or medications, the document states.
Another tip calls for members to drop references to the healthcare system, and instead focus more on the everyday individual. Individualize. Personalize. Humanize, the document states. Luntz, also advises Republicans to tie the high cost of care to waste, fraud and abuse in the system that is rampant in anything and everything the government controls.
