Peter Hoffmann, a physician, was named senior vice president and chief quality officer of Parkland Health & Hospital System, Dallas.
Hoffmann, 62, served previously as chief medical officer and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He also was associate professor of medicine and vice president for clinical operations at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and he was corporate medical director for utilization management for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Hoffmann, who specializes in hematology, holds a masters degree in philosophy and a medical degree from Columbia University.
Hoffmanns experience in quality, clinical effectiveness and information technology will help the health system reorganize its approach to quality and safety, Parkland said in a written statement.
