Suburban Hospital Healthcare System, Bethesda, Md., formally agreed to join Johns Hopkins Health System Corp., Baltimore, in a non-cash transaction, according to a news release from Johns Hopkins. The plan is for one-hospital Suburban to join three-hospital Johns Hopkins in early fall, and for leadership and day-to-day operations to remain in place at Suburban, including its voluntary medical staff and physician organization. Suburban would operate under Johns Hopkins governance structure in the same way its existing hospitals do, according to the release. Johns Hopkins said it has no plans to add more hospitals.
