Kennedy Health System, Voorhees, N.J., named Paul Walker senior vice president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. Walker, 56, succeeds Martin Bieber, 58, who was promoted in June 2008 to executive vice president for a one-year transition period before becoming president and CEO.
Bieber will succeed Richard Murray, 61, who is expected to retire June 1 after 17 years as chief executive of Kennedy Health, which includes the three-campus Kennedy Memorial Hospitals-University Medical Center. Walker was previously director of business development for Temple University Health System, a three-hospital system based in Philadelphia, Pa. He spent 25 years with Tenet Healthcare Corp. Walker earned a masters degree in health administration from Duke University.
