Lord, 54, joined Humana in 2000 as the Louisville, Ky.-based insurers first chief innovation officer. Lord is behind Humanas popular SmartSummary personal member benefits statement. He also developed health and wellness programs such as Humanas bike-sharing program.
Lord, a physician, was formerly the chief operating officer at the American Hospital Association. Navigenics, which uses DNA testing and analysis to determine a persons genetic predisposition to health conditions, is a privately held company based in Foster City, Calif.
As a physician-researcher and a hands-on health futurist, Jack Lord has become a global leader in healthcare innovation, promotion and prevention, said Mike McCallister, president and CEO of Humana, in a written statement.
