Sharon Kurz has been hired as the new CEO of St. Elias Specialty Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska, the long-term acute-care hospital announced. Kurz most recently has worked in Idaho overseeing the clinical, administrative and financial operations of 10 facilities as a vice president with Health Management Systems, which is part of HMS Holdings Corp., New York. Kurz earned a Ph.D. in administration from the University of Kansas. Kurzs age was not provided.
Kurz is replacing former CEO Chad Carpenter, who did not reveal his plans to St. Elias, a spokeswoman said.
St. Elias opened in 2006 as the first LTAC hospital in Alaska.
