Regarding the article Patient-sharing seen as raising risk of infection:
This is something that infection preventionists have known intuitively for years. We know our frequent fliers. We now use any admission to any hospital as a risk factor for admission screening for antibiotic-resistant organisms no matter how brief that stay may have been. Just passing through emergency rooms seems to increase the risk and carriage of AROs.
