The American Academy of Family Physicians has appointed Heather Boyle Townsend director of online development and partnerships, a new position within the AAFPs Online and Custom Publishing Division.
Townsend, 44, will develop and maintain partnerships between the AAFP and media companies, production vendors, sponsors and other organizations that contribute to the AAFP's consumer Web site, familydoctor.org.
Previously, Townsend worked as director of patient education for Bethesda, Md.-based GetWellNetwork, developing educational software and interactive patient-care plans. She also worked as a customer relationship director for Boca Raton, Fla.-based Eclipsys Corp., and as health enhancement coordinator for St. Luke's Shawnee Mission Health System and Business Men's Assurance Co. in Kansas City, Mo., a news release said.
She earned a bachelors of science degree in health education and health promotion from Southern Connecticut State University.
