Group purchasing organization Premier, Charlotte, N.C., announced the appointment of Susan DeVore, 50, to be its next president and chief executive officer.
DeVore, who has spent five years as chief operating officer, will take over the post on July 1 after the retirement of Premier’s current president and CEO, Rick Norling. DeVore had been identified as an internal candidate for the post after Norling’s retirement announcement in October. “She understands the issues facing our not-for-profit hospital alliance members and has achieved sustainable results,” Norling said of DeVore’s selection.
Under her leadership, DeVore said Premier will aggressively focus on care-quality initiatives, giving hospitals a voice in the transformation of healthcare and supply chain cost and safety issues.
Prior to joining Premier, DeVore spent 20 years with information-technology consultancy Cap Gemini Ernst & Young’s healthcare division. She has appeared on Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare (Premium subscription required) and Top 25 Women in Healthcare lists.
