Group purchasing organization Premier, Charlotte, N.C., announced the appointment of Susan DeVore, 50, to be its next president and chief executive officer.
DeVore, who has spent five years as chief operating officer, will take over the post on July 1 after the retirement of Premiers current president and CEO, Rick Norling. DeVore had been identified as an internal candidate for the post after Norlings retirement announcement in October. She understands the issues facing our not-for-profit hospital alliance members and has achieved sustainable results, Norling said of DeVores selection.
Under her leadership, DeVore said Premier will aggressively focus on care-quality initiatives, giving hospitals a voice in the transformation of healthcare and supply chain cost and safety issues.
Prior to joining Premier, DeVore spent 20 years with information-technology consultancy Cap Gemini Ernst & Youngs healthcare division. She has appeared on Modern Healthcares 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare (Premium subscription required) and Top 25 Women in Healthcare lists.
