A definitive agreement brings Clarian Health, Indianapolis, and Bloomington (Ind.) Hospital a step closer toward a 2010 union they first announced was under consideration in 2007. The March 5 agreement triggers an 18-month phase of researching and completing a comprehensive plan for the healthcare delivery system in south central Indiana, according to a news release. The process would guide the integration of 280-bed Bloomington Hospital and 24-bed Bloomington Hospital of Orange County in Paoli, Ind., into six-hospital Clarian Health. The step was forecast last year when Bloomington Hospitals founding organization, the Local Council of Women, voted to proceed with working toward a deal.
