Lynn Britton has been named president and chief executive officer of the Sisters of Mercy Health System, one of the nations 10 largest Catholic systems with 17 hospitals in four states.
Britton, 48, was selected for the top job at the Chesterfield, Mo.-based system effective Jan. 30. He will be the third CEO in about two years time at Sisters of Mercy. Former President and CEO John Sullivan left Sisters of Mercy on Jan. 30 after a decision by the board to change leadership, a system spokeswoman said. Before him, Ronald Ashworth served in the role from 1999 to 2007.
Britton first joined Sisters of Mercy in 1992 as director of materials management at a hospital in Oklahoma City, became materials executive director for the system in 1999, and then in 2004 moved to the corporate offices as vice president of resource optimization.
