Concerning the healthcare stimulus program, there appears to be a great deal of money being thrown at the system without a substantive plan toward resolution of critical issues$20 billion for electronic health records seems quite high.
As a patient in Taiwan, I was treated by a physician who used an off-the-shelf electronic healthcare system. It was less than $300. His major complaint about using the system concerned the nurse he had to hire to input data as he spoke to patients. His second comment seemed to cement what has been occurring to physician salariesmore work for less money.
