Tobias Samo, M.D., has been named chief medical officer at Eclipsys Corp., an Atlanta-based developer of electronic health records and other healthcare information technology systems, according to a company news release. Samo most recently served as medical director of information technology at Methodist Hospital, Houston, and previously, as vice president of medical informatics at Physia Corp., an Internet-based provider of claims processing and communications services, according to the release. Samo, whose age was unavailable at deadline, is a clinical professor at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, and Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, and he will continue to work part-time at his Houston clinical practice.
