In response to Jennifer Lubell's "Healthcare spending growth rate slows in '07: CMS report"
Virtually every government healthcare plan focuses solely on costs and coverage. Since the cost increases are at least trending in the correct direction, it is time to concentrate on the practice of healthcare. I, for one, react badly to broken U.S. healthcare system and insist that it is stated as bad U.S. healthcare payment system.
The fact is that we have the worlds most vibrant medical-device community and our medical professionals rank with the best in the world. My worry is that we throw out the baby with the bathwater and kill the great technology and dedicated professionals by the normal government solution of just dont pay.
Since my firm creates great technology that helps medical professionals, my prejudiced view is that concentration in this area can let caregivers know better how to treat us. And let them concentrate more of their days and nights on giving informed care and watching how we progress. And that efficiency will also cut costs.
