Regarding Mass layoffs mounting at U.S. hospitals:
I find it very interesting that the healthcare industry struggled to find qualified employees and there has been an acute shortage of critical positions, but now layoffs are announced. The industry talks out of both sides of its mouth.
Modern Healthcare needs to be specific about what types of workers were dismissed. Further, what was the reason in 2005, which you mention as the peak for layoffs in the past 10 years. What part of the country is the hardest hit? Where are these displaced associates going? Please dig deeper into your story and not be so shallow in your reporting.
