The Joint Commission named Mark Pelletier executive director of hospital programs and accreditation and certification services, effective today.
Pelletier, 50, replaces Darlene Christiansen, who left the position in December 2008, according to a commission spokesman. Pelletier, a registered nurse, served previously as senior vice president and chief operating officer of 283-bed Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, Ill. He also has served in executive roles in the Chicago area with Resurrection Health Care, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Childrens Memorial Hospital. Pelletier holds a masters degree in nursing administration and a bachelors degree from DePaul University and received his nursing diploma from Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University.
At the Joint Commission, Pelletier is responsible for working with accredited organizations and new organizations that want to be surveyed. -- by Jean DerGurahian
