Karen Bell, a former director with HHS Office of the National Coordinator, is now senior vice president of health information technology services for Masspro, according to Masspro. Bell, 61, a physician, served previously as director of ONCs Office of Health IT Adoption, where she was responsible for coordinating the advancement of IT recommendations developed through the American Health Information Community and assessing the level of technology adoption in various health industry segments. In her new role, Bell will have medical oversight of health IT implementation and care-management initiatives, and she will be a liaison for the CMS, physicians and Masspro for developing physician office-care management tools and improvement programs. Waltham, Mass.-based Masspro serves as the states Medicare quality improvement organization. David Hunt, CMO for ONC, was named as her interim replacement. His age was unavailable.
