Kathy Boyle has been named chief nursing officer at Denver Health Medical Center, formerly known as Denver General Hospital. Boyle starts Jan. 20, 2009, and she replaces Kate Dougherty, who left the organization Feb. 14.
Previously, Boyle, 56, worked as senior director of patient services and patient and family-centered care at the University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora. She has been with the University of Colorado Hospital for more than 29 years working in various roles, including serving on its school of nursing faculty.
Boyle is on the editorial board of The Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing, and serves on the board of the Aurora (Colo.) Chamber of Commerce.
Her research interests include leadership in transition in acute-care hospitals and physician-nurse communication. In addition to management duties, she will continue the nursing departments efforts to enhance care delivery, a news release stated. -- by Andis Robeznieks
