In response to Joseph Conn's CCHIT awaits word on fate in Obama administration":
I am still concerned about whether the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology integrates medical and dental
care and data to support chronic care and prenatal care appropriately
and adequately and to assure quality of care and safety.
Without such articulation, medical and dental providers are delivering
two inadequately coordinated streams of care, including medication
events (such as administration of pain medications, antibiotics and anesthesia)
and surgical events and treating, in many cases, interrelated patient-disease states for patients that both sets of providers serve. Without providing explicitly and with designated priority for such articulation of care and data, CCHIT and its certification risk becoming obsolescent.
