Oncologist William Rupp has been named to his third chief executive officer position with the Mayo Clinic, taking on a role as CEO of Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in Florida, effective Nov. 21.
Rupp, 62, has served previously in the top roles at Mayos Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, Wis., and Immanuel St. Josephs in Mankato, Minn. He is taking a promotion from his current job as leader of quality projects at 172-bed Luther Hospital.
At Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Rupp is taking over for George Bartley, who has served as CEO since 2002. A Mayo news release said Bartley intends to resume his surgical practice at the Mayo Clinic. Mayos Jacksonville campus opened in 1986 and has 313 staffed beds today. -- by Joe Carlson
