The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology announced it newly certified electronic health-record products for inpatient and emergency departments.
The 2008 certified inpatient EHR is EpicCare Inpatient Clinical System, by Epic Systems Corp. Emergency department EHRs ASAP Emergency Department Information System from Epic; EmergisoftED by Emergisoft Corp.; and Wellsoft by Wellsoft Corp., also were certified. CCHIT also awarded an enterprise EHR certification to EpicCare Enterprise Clinical System. The enterprise certification is for comprehensive ambulatory, inpatient and emergency department EHRs that are interoperable, according to the commission.
CCHIT is accepting applications through March 31, 2009, for 2008 certification of inpatient, emergency department and enterprise EHRs as well as ambulatory EHRs with options for certification in child health and cardiovascular medicine. The commission also is searching for vendors to assist in pilot testing of its certification criteria and tools in February 2009. Those applications will be accepted from Dec. 1 to Dec. 21.
