Tom Russell has been named president and chief executive officer of Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Ore., effective Jan. 2, 2009.
Russell, 58, succeeds Deryl Jones, who is also 58 and is retiring.
Russell is currently senior vice president of the not-for-profit Adventist Medical Center and is responsible for facility planning, managed-care strategy and accreditation, among other duties. He has been with the hospital for 15 years and has direct responsibility for the construction of the hospitals 181,000-square-foot pavilion, scheduled to open in May 2009.
He is also president of Healthcare Resources Northwest, a subsidiary focused on integrated healthcare and wellness.
Adventist Medical Center is part of Adventist Health, a faith-based system based in Roseville, Calif., and operating in California, Oregon, Washington state and Hawaii. -- by Rebecca Vesely
