Christophe Ramstein was promoted to chief technology officer for Immersion Corp., the company announced.
Ramstein, 42, had been senior vice president of research and engineering for the company. In 1995, he founded Haptic Technologies, which Immersion acquired in 2000. Immersion said in a news release Ramstein will continue to work with innovative haptic, or touch simulation, technology, in his new role. He holds a doctorate in computer sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute, Grenoble, France, and a masters degree in applied mathematics from the Institut Fourier.
San Jose, Calif.-based Immersion develops digital touch technology that is used in medical training simulators and other industries.
