Two organizations are launching retooled Web sites in hopes of attracting more health workers.
The Association of Schools of Public Health has developed a site dubbed Pathways to Public Health aimed at educating younger people about public health and health careers. Working with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ASPH is hoping to combat what it sees as a shortage of public health workers that will soon impact the country. The association said in a news release it estimates 250,000 more public health workers will be needed than what will be available by 2020.
In addition, the consulting and job placement subsidiary of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, formerly known as AORN Management Solutions, changed its name to AORN Works and redesigned its Web site to highlight the services it provides to perioperative staff. The new site profiles AORN Works personnel and works with job candidates through an online job board.
