An Ohio insurance company and the U.S. Postal Service are searching for missing computer disks that contain personal information on 36,000 retirees.
Medical Mutual of Ohio said the 11 disks contain data on retirees from the School Employee Retirement System, State Teachers Retirement System, Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund and the Ohio Highway Patrol Retirement System. The company said the disks were mailed to the retiree groups.
Medical Mutual spokesman Jared Chaney said no data appear to have fallen into the wrong hands.
U.S. Postal Service spokesman Ray Jacobs said Medical Mutual notified the agency about the disks last week. He said the postal service can't confirm the disks were ever put in the mail.
