Hospital prices climbed 0.6% in September, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Consumer Price Index figures. All figures are seasonally adjusted. Prices rose 0.8% for the same month last year. For the 12-month period ended in September, hospital prices increased 7.1%, compared with 6.9% in the year-ago period.
Physician-office prices were 0.5% higher last month, compared with a 0.2% increase in September 2007. For the 12-month period ended in September, physician office prices rose 3%, compared with 4.1% in the year-ago period. -- by Melanie Evans
