Meredith Taylor has been named by the Chicago-based Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society to its congressional affairs staff, according to Dave Roberts, HIMSS' vice president of government relations.
Taylor, 28, is the former manager of state government relations for HIMSS. She previously worked with the National Governors Association, mainly with the State Alliance for E-health.
In her new position, Taylor will work with HIMSS congressional affairs colleagues to educate members of Congress on the development and principles surrounding health IT policy and relaying back to the members of HIMSS what is going on on the Hill with health IT policy, Taylor said.
Taylor previously served as a research director for Sen. Thomas Carper (D-Del.) and also served on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services and International Security, where her work included efforts to protect government computers from cyber attacks.
Taylor has a masters degree in public health from George Washington University and a bachelors degree in political science and international studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
