MacDonald is leaving for health reasons and to spend more time with his family, according to a news release. Jonathan Bush, president, chief executive officer and chairman, will fill in until the company names a replacement. MacDonald has served in the COO position for two years, coming to Athenahealth from Fidelity Investments where he had served as president of its human resources services business as well as chief information officer for its management and research business.
