Nicholas Valadja, 62, West Penn Allegheny Health Systems chief information officer, resigned, effective Oct. 6. He was succeeded by John Foley, the Pittsburgh-based systems chief technology officer. Foley, 48, joined five-hospital West Penn in September.
The executive-level departure continues the turnover at struggling West Penn since Christopher Olivia succeeded Jerry Fedele as president and chief executive officer in March. In May, the systems executive vice president and chief operating officer stepped down after his job was eliminated. Roy Santarella arrived at West Penn two months later as chief administrative officer with oversight of treasury and finance. In late July, the system said it would write off $73 million from its balance sheet. And in September, the system announced the resignation of Connie Cibrone, president and CEO of Allegheny General Hospital.
