Five healthcare organizations are convening Oct. 8 to announce new strategies to prevent the six most important healthcare-associated infections. This is the first time these groups have reviewed and synthesized all existing guidelines to create strategies that could be easily implemented and specify accountability. Participating groups include: the Joint Commission, American Hospital Association, Infectious Diseases Society of America, Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. The groups will meet at the National Press Club 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington, at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
