Brim Healthcare, Brentwood, Tenn., named Phillip Mazzuca to be its next president and CEO, effective on or before Dec. 21. Mazzuca, 49, succeeds Dave Woodland, 60, who is retiring after 21 years with the company. Woodland will remain on Brims board of directors. Most recently, Mazzuca served as COO at cardiovascular-care provider MedCath Corp., Charlotte, N.C., a position he held since March 2006. O. Edwin French, president and CEO of MedCath, said that the company is not looking to hire another COO, but is looking for a president of its hospital division. Mazzucas responsibilities will be split between French and Derek Morkel, who serves as senior vice president of operations. David Hadley, 52, was named senior vice president and CFO for Via Christi Health System, Wichita, Kan., leaving a job as senior vice president of finance for Texas Health Resources, Arlington. Hadleys new role becomes effective Nov. 3, replacing Arlan Yoder, who retired in February, a Via Christi spokesman said. Sandra Bruce was selected to become president and CEO of Chicago-based Resurrection Health Care on Nov. 3, taking over the position from Joseph Toomey, 74, as he retires after 16 years with the system. Bruce, 63, currently is president and CEO of St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, a member of Trinity Health. North Dakotas Medcenter One health system, Bismarck, promoted its medical director, Craig Lambrecht, 47, to be its first COO.
