Memorial Health Care System, Chattanooga, Tenn., said its board of directors and its parent organization, Catholic Health Initiatives, has hired James Hobson as president and chief executive officer of Memorial. Hobson, 47, will join the system in early November. One of the things that impressed us most about Jim is his extensive experience in working with physicians and specialty medical practices as well as a wide variety of clinical service lines, said Leo Brown, chairman of the Memorial board.
Hobson is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Phoebe Putney Health Systems, Albany, Ga.; he joined the system in 2003. Hobson also has held management positions with two Tennessee hospitals, in Bristol and in Memphis. Hobson is a Memphis native who earned a masters degree in economics from the University of Memphis and a bachelors degree in government from Centre College, Danville, Ky. Hobson is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. -- by Vince Galloro
