The 31 primary-care physicians with Commonwealth Medical Group, West Allis, Wis., are splitting up, with 17 joining Milwaukee-based, not-for-profit system Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, with 16 affiliated hospitals; and 14 are joining Aurora Health Care, a 12-hospital Milwaukee-based, not-for-profit system.
The physicians going to Wheaton Franciscan will become part of a new medical group of about 30 doctors and will practice under the name Metro Physicians. Wheaton Franciscan is also acquiring imaging, laboratory and physical-therapy facilities from Commonwealth.
Effective Sept. 1, the 14 physicians joining Aurorawhich includes Commonwealth Medical Director Scott Fenskewill operate as part of Aurora Advanced Healthcare, a formerly independent group of about 250 physicians that affiliated with the system last year. -- by Andis Robeznieks
