Wholesale physician-office prices remained flat for the second month, according to preliminary figures for the Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index. In July 2007, prices rose 0.1%. For the 12-months ended this July, physician-office prices rose 0.8% compared with 3.7% for the year-ago period.
Wholesale hospital prices rose 0.3% in July after inching up 0.1% the prior month, the preliminary index figures show. For the same month in 2007, prices rose at an identical pace. For the 12-month period ended in July, hospital prices climbed 3.4%, slightly higher than 3.1% for the year-ago period. -- by Melanie Evans
