Timothy Babineau, M.D., has been selected to be president and chief executive officer of Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, according to a news release.
Babineau, 48, most recently served as senior vice president and chief medical officer for the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore and associate professor of surgery at the University of Maryland Medical School. He will join Rhode Island Hospital on Oct. 1, and will replace Joseph Amaral, M.D., who left in June 2007.
Rhode Island Hospital is owned by Lifespan, a four-hospital system. -- by Shawn Rhea
