The National Quality Forum endorsed 91 new measures through its National Voluntary Consensus Standards program, bringing its total approved measures to 463.
The latest measures include 67 clinician-level standards of cancer and perioperative care, infectious diseases and nonphysician professional care, four facility-level standards in surgery and anesthesia, 17 standards for the prevention and management of stroke across a continuum of care, and three flu and pneumococcal immunization standards.
The standards focus on harmonizing care and filling in gaps in measurement, according to an NQF news release. Using the standards helps facilities in public reporting and transparency efforts, said Janet Corrigan, chief executive officer of the NQF, in a written statement. -- by Jean DerGurahian
