Texas Health Resources, Arlington, said Edward Marx, the not-for-profit health systems chief information officer, has been named to the Texas Health Services Authority.
Marx, 43, was one of 11 individuals named to the authority, a public-private corporation intended to improve patient safety and quality of care. In a news release, Texas Health Resources said the authority is responsible for coordinating a voluntary and secure electronic health-information infrastructure for the state. Marx will serve in the position until June 15, 2009.
At Texas Health Resourceswhere he has worked since October 2007Marx is responsible for assessing current and future technology and developing and implementing a strategy that aligns Texas Health Resources systems. Texas Health Resources began implementing an electronic health record in its 13-hospital system in 2005.
