Ohio University said the names and Social Security numbers of about 500 doctors and nurses were accidentally posted online for several months.
University spokeswoman Karoline Lane said a clerical error led to the posting on March 20. A nurse found the information last week while conducting online research, and the spreadsheet, which also included addresses and federal employer identification numbers, was removed July 16.
Lane said there is no indication the personal information was misused, and the person responsible for the posting has been placed on paid administrative leave. The medical personnel spoke at the school's Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education.
The center has set up a toll-free number for questions and is offering credit-monitoring service for one year.
