The Nashville Health Care Council said that Thomas Cigarran, chairman of Nashville-based Healthways, was appointed chairman of the councils board for the 2008-09 year, which began July 1. Cigarran is the former president and chief executive officer of Healthways, a disease-management company. Cigarran also was one of four new directors elected to three-year terms on the board; the other members are Vic Campbell, senior vice president, HCA; Jim Houser, president and CEO of not-for-profit St. Thomas Health Services, Nashville; and Ben Leedle Jr., president and CEO of Healthways.
Joey Jacobs, chairman, president and CEO of Psychiatric Solutions, Franklin, Tenn., was named vice chairman of the board. Jacobs was one of four directors to be re-elected to another three-year term on the board. -- by Vince Galloro
