The American Hospital Association, Chicago, named Linda Fishman as senior vice president for public policy analysis and development, effective immediately. Fishman, who declined to give her age, succeeds Carmela Coyle, who stepped down in May after 10 years as AHA's senior vice president for policy to become president and chief executive officer of the Maryland Hospital Association.
Fishman, previously the trade association's vice president for legislative affairs, was director of the CMS' legislation office before joining the AHA in October 2006. She spent more than 10 years with the Association of American Medical Colleges before joining the professional staff of the House Ways and Means Committee, an AHA spokeswoman said. She then joined the CMS as a senior policy adviser, moved to the staff of the Senate Finance Committee and returned to CMS in 2004. In her new position, Fishman will help develop policy positions and the AHAs lobbying agenda. -- by Melanie Evans
