Rockwall Hospitals, Richardson, Texas, has named Terry Fontenot as chief executive officer of Texas Regional Medical Center, Sunnyvale, effective immediately. The 70-bed hospitalowned jointly by local physicians and Rockwall Hospitalswill be the first in Sunnyvale and is expected to open in July 2009. Most recently, Fontenot, 54, served as the chief operating officer at Rockwall Hospitals, and previously he served for 13 years as president and CEO of the Medical Center of Mesquite, now known as the Dallas Regional Medical Center.
The new hospital will include 53 private inpatient suites, eight intensive-care-unit rooms, a womens center with labor, delivery and recovery suites, and room for an additional 250 beds. The hospital will also have six operating rooms, a dual cardiac catheterization laboratory, and an emergency department with six treatment rooms.
In a news release, Rockwall Hospitals said it expects to employ about 250 people, and that Fontenot has begun a search for the hospitals chief financial officer and chief nursing officer. -- by Jessica Zigmond
