Trish Markus, a partner with Smith Moore, was appointed a vice chairwoman of the American Health Lawyers Associations health information and technology practice group, the law firm announced.
Markus, 41, will serve as editor of HIT News, the groups newsletter and will provide information on health information technology issues. She has served for two years as co-leader of the AHLAs privacy and security compliance and enforcement affinity group within the health information practice. In addition to her AHLA work, Markus also is involved with the Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration and the American Health Information Management Association.
At Raleigh, N.C.-based Smith Moore, Markus focuses on healthcare regulatory and patient-care issues for physicians and hospitals.
