The only survivor of a June 29 air ambulance crash in Flagstaff, Ariz. has died, according to hospital representatives. James Taylor, a 36-year-old registered nurse at 294-bed St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, died July 4 after his family decided to end life support, said Kathleen Murphy, director of marketing and communications at St. Marks. Murphy said Taylor had been doing what he loved. In our eyes, hes a hero, she said.
Taylors death makes 17 fatalities from air ambulance crashes in the first six months of 2008, according to information from the National Transportation Safety Board. (See this weeks Modern Healthcare cover story: Flying in the face of danger.) -- by Jessica Zigmond
