Cardiac Disease Specialists, a 17-physician practice with 11 locations in the Atlanta area, was acquired by the Piedmont Heart Institute, an integrated cardiovascular program and health system headquartered inside the 138-bed Fuqua Heart Center of Atlanta on the campus of the 441-bed Piedmont Hospital.
Included in the deal was the CDS Sleep Disorders Center, which will also become part of the institute. Terms were not disclosed.
This is the third Atlanta-area acquisition by Piedmont in seven months. Cardiology of Georgia, a 30-year-old, 20-cardiovascular physician practice with eight locations, was acquired in March, and Atlanta Cardiology Group, a 25-physician practice, became part of the Piedmont Heart Institute in November 2007. -- by Andis Robeznieks
