Karen Onstad has been named director of health information for the Puget Sound Health Alliance, Seattle.
Onstad has been a consultant in healthcare quality measurement. She formerly served as director of policy and product development at the National Committee for Quality Assurance where she worked on developing the Healthcare Effectiveness Date and Information Set of quality measures. She also served as director of HEDIS users' group and served as a staff member to the Committee on Performance Measurement, the HEDIS oversight body.
Onstad has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in public health from the University of California at Berkeley.
Founded in late 2004, the alliance is a not-for-profit organization of payers, providers, individuals and employers looking to improve the quality, availability and affordability of healthcare in the Seattle area.
