The Joint Commission announced Ann Scott Blouin as executive vice president for its division of accreditation and certifications operations, effective Aug. 11.
Blouin, 55, replaces Linda Murphy-Knoll, who had filled the position on an interim basis since Russell Massaro retired last year. The commission had said filling the spot with a full-time executive was on hold until it hired a new president.
Blouin is a former managing director for Chicago-based Huron Consulting Group, which she helped launch, and former health-practice leader at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. She also has served in executive leadership roles at Chicago-area hospitals, including 240-bed MacNeal Hospital, Berwyn, Ill., and 781-bed Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Blouin holds a doctorate in nursing sciences and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and currently sits on the National Advisory Board for U.S. Preventive Medicine. -- by Jean DerGurahian
